After signing a contract extension with Juventus on Aug. 23, Weston McKennie was unused Monday as the Bianconeri cruised past Verona, 3-0. The U.S. international was the lone field player on the bench not introduced in the second half as Thiago Motta used all five of his available substitutions.

Motta has backed McKennie to be "useful," but he did not call upon the American midfielder on Monday.

A brace from Dusan Vlahovic and a debut goal from 21-year-old academy product Nicolo Savona secured the result for the Bianconeri as they made it six points across the first two matchdays in Serie A. They are the only team across the league to complete such a feat and sit atop the table with a two-point lead.

McKennie's fellow U.S. international Tim Weah missed Monday's contest due to injury. He started and scored in their season opener, but picked up an injury in the process.
